Quiet weekend

Another run in the Luss hills, this time a bit further north than a few weeks ago. It would have been short, except that I was wearing my brand spanking new innovates. It was only about 5minutes into the run where I realised they were rubbing my heels but we hadn't driven all that way just to go home again so I ignored it until it was un-ignorable and then just limped through the bog until we hit the downhill. There, my heels didn't rub so much and I got to enjoy the unbelievable stickyness as I flew down the hill. I should've bought new shoes years ago, these things are amazing!

Then Sunday was a trip to Ae Forest for some mountain biking. Neil's using my old bike at the moment which doesn't have many working gears so the uphills tended to be both rapid and relentless. Our legs were completely shot to pieces by the end of the ride. It felt like we were constantly going uphill as even the down's were quite rocky and it was difficult to keep any speed (unless you were in the air I suspect, in which case the shoogle factor would be a lot lower. Not really my style of riding though!) We tried a bit of the downhill course, where the MASSIVE jumps convinced me that I'm not a downhiller and I can't see all the body armour or bouncy bikes changing that. I'd love to see people riding some of that stuff though, proper cliffs.

The sad news of this week is that the Heb is cancelled. Not much to say about that yet. I'm sure the organisers tried their best to make it happen and it's really sad to see the demise of such an inspirational race.

Sounds like a fab run! Try holding the shoes over a hot steaming kettle to soften the plastic in the heel then put them on, sometimes helps mould them a bit.

Hmm, will give that a go and you'll probably see the results tomorrow at the Whangie.
Thanks!

rubbish news about the heb. not enough takers? what will you do instead?

I think there wasn't enough people. They're talking about doing a 'mates race' instead but I'm not totally sure...

what a shame. it's one of the few 'proper' ar races left in the uk. i take it you're not tempted by the 'green belt' series ;)
