Night orienteering
The boys were suffering from man flu yesterday. This was possibly unsurprising, given that Neil had fallen waist deep into a frozen loch in the Cairngorms on Sunday but even so, they're supposed to be tough! Me and Susie felt obliged to escape the snot and go do some night orienteering at Drumpellier. My experiences in Portugal have taught me that you can always learn more and be faster when it comes to navigation.
Last night was absolutely freezing and holding onto a map and compass gave me the worst cold hands of the year. But we had a lovely run over a frozen golf course and managed to find all the checkpoints without too many problems and were rewarded with chips and cake at the finish line. This is obviously a club after my own heart!!Last night was absolutely freezing and holding onto a map and compass gave me the worst cold hands of the year. This was my big return to exercise after two weeks of channel surfing, hair cuts, shopping, visiting family and generally 'recovering' from Portugal. It was great to be out in the fresh air but I'm not planning to ''train'' for a while - I'll just do fun stuff and whatever takes my fancy.
And the really big news is that it's goodbye glasses! I was running about in the dark last night and I could actually see!!!! No more steamed up glasses or worry about whether I'd fall off my bike and smash them. No more faffing with contact lenses with muddy hands. My laser eyes are just one week old but I'm already getting used to the freedom. How did I live without it?
